Just in Time… not just for manufacturing

When I decided I wanted to start a Power Platform Consultancy, I was doing it with very mixed feelings. Across my career I have worked with many of the big consulting firms as well as smaller consulting firms. I have had mixed experiences, and one of the things I wanted to make sure was that my consultancy was going to pull from the best experiences from my life and learn from the worst. I discovered an interview from Gus Levy of Goldman Sachs fame from the 1970s. He used the phrase “We’re long term greedy”. This is one of two troubling phrases I have learned from in my life (I’ll share the other some other time). On the surface it seems to be a horrific sentiment, speaking to the excesses of corporate culture, however in truth it means the exact opposite! It means that we at Geordie Consulting will always try to do what is right for our customers. We will seek to ensure that you and your organisation profit from any engagement you have with us. We will prioritise your company and your success over any personal gains for us.

Across the channels that we work in, from our LinkedIn Articles to our Geordie Intelligence YouTube channel, the objective has been to help bring clarity to people. There are multiple avenues explaining the how to do things, but are many talking about the why’s? That is the niche I want our articles to fill for you and your organisations. If we can help explain what something means, then you have more chance of being able to undertake the tasks yourself. 2023 has been a busy year for me as the consultancy is turning the corner into proper growth. I’ve already turned down the first “Long Term Greedy” test and not pushed for rapid expansion of the company, instead slowly taking on people who will benefit us and our customers while advancing my vision. In the next 12 months I hope to be able to put in writing my vision to my staff of offering employment for as long as they want to work for us. This is a huge commitment to our staff and will need me to put in place the structures to support the hiring and training of staff to help them to be the best version of themselves that they can be. It also means that I must take it upon myself to tackle our internal culture and make sure Geordie Consulting is a safe place for all to work.

Let us help you bridge that knowledge gap on your data journey.

So, what does all this have to do with you as a reader of our latest article? Well, that is simple. I want to work with your company, I want us to support your company to make the most of your data assets and I want to do it in a way that when we’re finished and myself or one of my consultants leaves you, it has been a positive experience for you.
Based on feedback I have received this year I am reconsidering something I didn’t want to do. We will be offering Support Contracts from 01-Jan-2024. I was convinced to offer these by two clients who felt that they could not embed the skills for a Centre of Excellence as quickly as they would like, so they wanted an option that would ensure they could contact someone should the need arise. My challenge has been to seek an appropriate price point that will balance the benefit provided to a client with the cost of resourcing a service. We have come up with three tiers of support, all of which give reduced rate engagements when additional work is required.

Together we are stronger – with our client centric approach, those goals needn’t feel so far off.

What I have learned is that people need either that second opinion or the deeper knowledge at times and having a relationship with a trusted consultancy that you can call on as and when you need, it just makes sense! Geordie Consulting is the Power Platform partner your business needs, bringing global experience with a personal touch.
