My analytical career began within the Barclays Bank Fraud Team. In this role, we profiled transactions by utilising IP address data and various other parameters to evaluate the associated risk levels. If a transaction was deemed suspicious, we would block it and contact the client to investigate potential fraud. Additionally, we conducted thorough investigations into fraud claims made by our customers.
Transitioning from the Fraud Protection Team at Barclays Bank to a Data Analyst position was a seamless move for me. The allure of delving into data and deciphering its significance was compelling. TT2, responsible for managing the road tunnels beneath the Tyne for NECA (now known as NEMCA), requires analysing and profiling over a million monthly journeys. While assessing traffic may appear straightforward, it involves many intricate tasks to fulfil the contract’s requirements, including investigating the frequency of non-compliance (failure to pay) and conducting account profiling. During this period, I had the pleasure of meeting Ross from Geordie Consulting and subsequently collaborated with them. The prospect of working with a more extensive dataset was the decisive factor in my decision to join Geordie Consulting.
